Eureka Genomics. Ability to Sequence Ultra-Low Genomic Sample Concentrations Reported at ASM

HERCULES, CA (May 24, 2010): Eureka Genomics announced today the ability to generate high quality, high-throughput sequencing data, using genomic DNA samples that are one thousand-fold less than recommended by sequencing platform developers. This enables, for the first time, access to a service for the sequencing of genomic material from very small amounts and isolates of rare, often irreplaceable, complex clinical, environmental or forensic samples, as well as from difficult to culture microorganisms.

The company's capabilities will be presented this week in a poster session at the 110th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology being held from May 23-27 in San Diego, CA. Their poster will be presented Wednesday May 26 (Div. Group III . Evolutionary and Genomic Microbiology). Eureka Genomics will exhibit during the conference from May 24-26 and will offer special pricing for Next Generations Sequencing and Bioinformatics Services available to show attendees that visit Eureka Genomics booth #847.

Eureka Genomics Ultra Low Sequencing Services can be used to generate libraries and sequence data and useful biological information using samples containing as little as 1 ng of isolated genomic DNA,. said Heather Koshinsky, Ph.D., Eureka Genomics. Chief Scientific Officer and an author of the poster. .This sample is used directly to generate a library for sequence data generation. This new sample size compares strikingly with the 1-5 micrograms of isolated DNA recommended by sequencing technology developers (e.g., Illumina) . a requirement that has limited the feasibility of sequencing many rarer or impossible to replace biological samples.

Eureka Genomics is a privately held company and leader in the advanced bioinformatics analysis of next-generation sequencing data, which it applies to the discovery of novel microorganisms associated with cancers and other life threatening diseases.

The company further leverages its proprietary algorithms and biological problem-solving expertise by providing collaborative, high quality sequencing and analysis services on a cost-effective basis to a broad range of university, governmental and industry researchers around the world. www.eurekagenomics.com
