Life Tech Certifies 11 Additional Labs to Provide Ion Proton Exome Sequencing Services

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) — Life Technologies has added 11 new members from the US and Canada to its Ion AmpliSeq Exome Certified Service Provider program, the company said today.

The new providers are Sanford Burnham in San Diego; SeqWright Genomic Services in Houston; Genewiz in South Plainfield, NJ; Affiliated Genetics in Salt Lake City; Eureka Genomics in Hercules, Calif.; the University of Arizona in Tucson; the University of British Columbia in Vancouver; Ohio State University in Columbus; AltheaDx in San Diego; PrimBio Research Institute in Exton, Penn.; and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Under the program, the service providers offer exome sequencing on the Ion Proton sequencer, using the Ion AmpliSeq Exome kit and Ion Reporter software.

According to Life Tech, the service is “competitively priced,” requires only 50 nanograms of DNA, and delivers results within two days. Up to 98 percent of bases per exome are covered at 10-fold coverage, and up to 95 percent at 20-fold coverage.

Life Tech launched the Exome Certified Service Provider program last month with seven US-based members, and said at the time that it expects the number of providers to grow to as many as 35 over the next several months. The firm said today that the program will “soon expand globally.”

The program is part of a broader Ion Certified Service Provider program, which has also certified institutions to provide sequencing services on the Ion Torrent PGM
